I agree with cpres. I find the 2 best ways to learn anything is to jump in, head first, over your capabilities, and then teach people what you've learned. If you do those 2 things, you will excel at everything you do!

I will be archiving this entire class for the future as well. For what purpose, I have yet to decide.

As for the CSS & JS concerns - this might ease your brain a little bit.
CSS is super simple, just read it like a book. ie: border:1px solid red; means a border with 1px thickness colors red.
.class <- that is a class, used as "class='myClass'" in an element of HTML. Classes are used more than just once.
#id <- is an ID. ID's are unique, and only used once. used as "id='myID'".

And the JS we use requires minimal knowledge. Variables, small functions, and anything easier than that. No custom event handlers, we let jQuery do that work :)

Definitely give this class a shot! I'm going to try and make it as simple as I can.

Just sign on as a follower (or just try and dive in as a participator!) and take notes as you go. Keep up with the exercises as you can and in your free time you can go back over the lessons as you gain a better understanding of CSS and Javascript.

In short: create your own archive and use this as an opportunity to "get in over your head" with no risk!  In my experience, some of the greatest gains are when you're working at or beyond your capacity.
