Post to Your Blog

Write a blog post to accompany a photograph of your hand written code
From all the glorious handwritten examples of beautiful html that you've created over the last fifteen minutes select your best effort. Take a photograph (or scan) of it, making sure that the code is legible so that others can read it. Now spend about ten minutes of time writing a blog post to accompany your photograph (or scan). You should include how many attempts it took for you to get to the end of the code. If you've found it frustrating mention that, but ask yourself why - is there anything you could do to alleviate this?

When you're done writing your blog post and it's published, post a link to it on the challenge discussion page.

    Hand Written HTML

I considered using coloured felt tip pens for the different types of tags and so forth but in the end I opted for plain black script. I had to write it out twice in order to ensure that I used the right indentations. That was laborious but it reminded me of my time at school. No computers in those days. I wrote everything out by hand.

If I want to learn something I still tend to write by hand but I generally do not try and memorise everything word by word. That would bore me to tears and I would become frustrated. Instead I like to learn a certain amount and come back to it a few weeks when I am fresh.

The indents are for us humans. Browsers use the tags and ignore the whitespace. I think it is much easier to look back at code with helpful indents. It is rare that an html page is done just once. I find that I look back at some of them over and over so I can add to a growing page. Using the same indent style makes the tags easier to identify for me.

    Good start. Keep at it.

I have posted my HTML exercise to my blog.

    http://amyscoolpc.wordpress.com/

It seemed simple enough.  The challenge for me was to work out how to load the photo with cool new Open Source software.  I managed it with a bit of effort and I am definitely becoming an Open Source fan.

The link you posted is an administrative link.

Typically, right click the title of a post AFTER you finish publishing. Copy and paste that link to this space.

A second thing happened, too. I tried to go to the default address: http://kaitlin980.wordpress.com which notified me that the blog was private. Check to publish to all (Public).

    Keep at it.
