- Composed of a Kernel, Libraries, Utilities, and User Interfaces
- Linus Torvalds developed the Linux kernel in the 1990’s.
- Linux is licensed under the GPL.
- The Linux Source code is open source, thus anyone can modify it.
- Linux can be used as a desktop operating system, a server, and even a firewall for a network.
