Economics (and the forces that term represents) are playing an ever more invasive role in daily American life. I'm hoping to deepen my layman's understanding of this subject in order that such an understanding could have a positive impact for my family and our own impact on the local economy.
Such skills as I have are at the disposal of the study group, though I am somewhat hesitant to pledge to help organize without knowing more about what would be required. If it was within my abilitles and I felt confident I could discharge my responsibilities fully for the group I would certainly assist.

Standard Set Answer:
My interest in economics revolves around a need to understand how to make money work. I know very little of the subject and hope to gain some understanding of the various influences that make some businesses succeed and others fail. I hope that this study group will help keep me focussed and excited about the topic.
I am keen to help with study organisation wherever I can. However, this is my first p2pu course, so I know very little of what is involved.
(I am unfortunately offline from Sunday 19 June to Monday 4 July - but I do not want to miss the oppertunity, so I 'enrolled' in case I do not get a seat)

I'm interested in Economics simply because I'm in the accounting sector. I'm actually a certified Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) and I'm looking to further my education, so why not start with an Introduction to MicroEconomics! Hopefully this will give me a head start when I finally decide to head back to the classroom and empty my wallet.

Standard Set Answer:
I love people, and microeconomics is one of the best ways to understand them. I like to think of the world like a forest. Every tree in that forest is not isolated, but important to how the forest functions as a whole. And microecnomics, is the study of that tree, of how it interacts with the animals that live on it, and the decisions it makes. You can never understand the forest without first understanding the tree, so you can never understand the world, without looking at it microeconomically.
At the end of this course, I hope to understand better how people work, how they function, and how they interact. This is after all, the crux of microeconomics, and this knowledge must serve me well in the long road to understanding humans.
