This challenge supports the use of materials found in the Beginning Unit of the OpenFiction Project, a free and open introductory fiction writing course

The goals of this challenge are to:

• become familiar with the OpenFiction Project course materials and how they are structured

• learn techniques for generating short story ideas, and

• begin writing the short story that you will finish by the end of your work with the OpenFiction Project materials.

This is the biggest task in the beginning unit challenge, and is important both in developing your understanding of your selected story and in generating examples for peers to use in completing future challanges.
