Installing Python [June 19, 2011, 12:16 p.m.]

For this first task, you will need to install Python on to your computer.  Python 3 is the version of Python most people in this class will be using, though feel free to use the version with which you are the most comfortable.

To get started, go here: http://www.python.org/

There will be various options and instructions depending on the version of Python you wish to use and the OS (operating system) your computer is running.

Once you've gotten Python installed, click the "Post A Comment" link above and post a message to your fellow classmates with the following:

Your operating system

The version of Python that you have installed (2.x or 3.x)

Something you are excited to learn about in this class

Feel free to respond to your classmates' comments as well by clicking on the "reply" button at the upper right-hand corner of each comment.

If you need further help (on this or any other task), please post a comment or contact the organizers of the course.
