Location: Kuwait
Standard Set Answer:
I have been teaching undergraduate courses in physics, computational physics, engineering, and technical writing since 1993 and am interested in discovering more efficient ways of educating young students that are interested in learning about science.
Specifically, I am interetested in learniong more about the successes and failures associated with using PhET sims in the classroom, specifically in conjunction with the Peer Instruction method. It would also be interesting to see how culture affects learning in this respect.

Middle School - science teacher
Location:
Standard Set Answer:
I am working on developing a set of approaches toward working with the PhET simulations all of which are designed to guide students toward posing questions as they work. Traditionally, we as teachers ask the questions. However, in the interest of teaching students life-long learning skills, I feel that it is possible to plan projects and activities in such a way that the students create the lists of questions themselves.
Additionally, I have been testing out practical, hands-on lab activities designed to accompany the PhET simulations in order to ensure that students have enough real-world experience in order to make sense of the models used in this program. I feel that, when possible, students should have the opportunity to actually experience the concepts in conjunction with the interactive simulations. And that is what I attempt to do in my middle school classes.
I hope to exchange ideas with teachers in this study group while working on these plans for my middle school classes.
