posted message: Having read the initial paper and the link that Doug posted my first thoughts are what a great idea. Firstly as these recognise skills and achievements from outside the traditional learning environment they will add value and relevance to a CV or portfolio. My background is teaching adults with disabilities and it shouts out personalised accreditation. Many such learners have a 'spiky profile' so a badge system will facilitate breaking down the skills into packages they are able to achieve. I realise it is early and probably no one else on this will have the same interest but I thought I'd declare it early. I've looked at the list of questions and there are a couple on soft skills which look interesting and relevant.

Hi everyone. I have posted a comment in the Task 1 area as it is specifically about one of the readings for that task.  There doesn't seem to be a spell check in this system. If you find one let me know!

Hi Lisa, great to have you onboard! What do you mean by 'spiky profile'? I've heard the term used before but have never asked what it means. :-)

Strengths in certain areas and weakness in others as opposed to general consistent apptitudes.

For example weak literacy scores, high numeracy scores, high music scores, moderate humanities.... As a sports college we have some high achieving performers, sports, music, who have selected the college for this specialism, and these students someimes find ofther subjects areas challenging. Where we also have gift profiles, middling profiles and student whom need support across the curriulum.

I would anticipate that these 'spikey' profiles are more pronounced with some of Lisa's students.

Thank you Kristian - spot on.  Yes some of the students I've taught had an astonishing variation in ability.  It makes it very difficult to give any accreditation or recognition to the skills and abilities they do have.
