It has helped me state goals and get some encouragement to pursue them. Extra special thanks to Alison Jean Cole who seriously rocks for all she does to make P2PU the real deal. This article is the first of a three part series. Not the same as getting bachelor's degree in something something engineering but I it is going to provide some great networking opportunities I would not otherwise had even with a diploma.

posted message: A thought on getting mentors. I am negotiating a series of magazine articles with Clive Maxfield at EE Times(http://www.eetimes.com/design/programmable-logic/). What I am finding is that what Max wants from me as a contributor is "more" and the conversations we have about "more" are expanding my research horizons. The big difference here compared to other relationships I have had with people who wanted "more" from my research is they are not reciprocating as Max does. I get published in a respected journal when I meet Max's requests. Summing up - magazine articles are good mentored education situations and can function well as milestones maybe even capstone.
