Create 100% free and re-mixable language lessons to teach the world your language.

We are learning how to build media-rich interactive language lessons online. In the process we will help create a short curriculum of these lessons for teaching basic English. All materials and software used are 100% free. Be part of the campaign to jumpstart collaborative language education online (thelastlanguagetextbook.org) and learn how to share your language with the world.

posted message: Hi everyone, Looks like we had a problem with notifications so you may not have seen my earlier messages. Hopefully things are resolved now and we're ready to get started. Welcome to the group and thanks for your interest. Please take a moment to introduce yourselves here: https://p2pu.org/en/groups/build-the-last-language-textbook/content/introduce-yourself-to-the-group/ We will have weekly chat meetings on Thursday at 10:00 New York time (14:00 UTC) please msg me if that is a bad time for you. By next Thursday please have completed the first task "Read the LLT's curriculum" and pick a learning goal from it for your first lesson. We'll talk about how to get started from there during the chat.

    Hi Ian,

What tool do you plan to use for the chat? We may be able to use p2pu etherpad (I can ask, if you want)...

Also, we should make sure that the chat gets copied and archived somewhere, so people who can't attend it have access to the discussions. In addition, it would be great if someone could write a summary each week. Any volunteer?

Finally, at what date do you plan to start the chat?

I had meant to start them yesterday but realize I should have announced that more directly so let's start next Thrsday. We can just use the P2PU web chat client already reserved for the course. If you click on the link next to "Chat" under the course description, it looks like "#p2pu-1243-build-the-" it asks you to go through some capcha and then opens a web chat client into the course's automatically created freenode irc room. I'm happy to handle archiving and summarizing what we go over there.
