My professional and personal goal is to contribute to a socially engaged urban art and educational program that offers students, as well as families and communities, an environment for learning, expression, and growth
Location: Philadelphia, PA; USA
Standard Set Answer:
I am returning to school to study art and education and thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to expand my Baroque Art knowledge. I hope to learn more about seventeenth-century artists and contributors, philosophy, and technique. In addition, I am eager to participate in the P2P University and community. As a new participant, I am interested in learning how P2P operates and gaining exposure to class content, though I would be open to volunteering in the near future.

Location: Sydney, Australia
Standard Set Answer:
This course interests me as I'm a painter living in Australia. I've visited art museums in England, France, Spain and the Netherlands and looked at paintings but I don't have an academic background. My response to paintings as been emotional rather than educated.
I'm intrigued by the idea of learning art history online and going on a virtual museum visit. Through participating in this group I'd like to develop the ability to think about and discuss art works.

I am doing research in biology as a post-doc in UPenn (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA). Before to come to Philadelphia, I did my PhD in the Pasteur Institute of Paris (France), but I am originally from Toulouse (France). My interest in p2pu comes from the desire to keep learning in a broad range of topics beside biology, as well as to get more involved in teaching. Furthermore, through p2pu, I want to help promote the core values of open-source, open-content and p2p, in education and beyond.
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Standard Set Answer:
I am interested in art in general, as a way to experiment and understand emotions, by opening a new window to the world. I also acknowledge that any piece of art is a product of its time and, therefore, am interested in knowing better the context in which art is produced.
Through this class, I would like to know more about baroque art, with respect to the historical context, the influence of artists’ life, the cultural references and the techniques used.
I would also enjoy helping in the group organization, whenever needed.

Standard Set Answer:
What made me interested in this topic?
I studied art history - five semesters' worth - in college, but that was in the '70's. I want to refresh my memories in this area. Quite frankly, this wasn't my favorite era of art history, so I am kind of hazy on it all.
What do I hope to achieve by participating?
I hope to gain practice in online learning. There is a whole world out there! I want to refresh my understanding of this era of art history. I'd like to get to know some new people online. I have made so many good friends through online communities.
Am I interested in helping with the study group organization?
I am always interested in helping build community - whether it be in real life or a virtual community. However, I have no experience with online study groups, so I would need direction.

Bio:
I am a father, husband, lawyer, teacher, and lifelong learner. I taught at a local college for nearly 12 years - subjects such as the humanities, philosophy, history, political science, English comp, critical thinking, and paralegal studies. I am excitied to be participating in the early stages of the coming revolution driven by learners connecting, collaborating, and finding knowledge, skills, and understanding together.
Location: United States
Standard Set Answer:
I have for years wanted to get a humanities or independent studies graduate degree for years. Time and, especially, money denied me the opportunity. I taught some humanities courses in a local college, and was particularly intrigued by the areas where my education was weakest - including the arts. Quite frankly, I've been considering exploring non-familiar areas of the humanities from a distance. It's time to jump in.
When I'm done with the topic, I hope to be much more familiar with the important baroque artist and to have a better understanding of European art in general. Since this is my first course, I'd prefer to get my feet wet rather than helping to organize study groups. However, if it's necessary, then I will certainly do it. I am in this to collaborate and coordinate in my learning.
