  I'm an application engineer living in the Netherlands. Besides being an engineer i'm personally interested in Open Source software, some programming and design. My musical hobbies are playing the guitar, piano and keyboard.

  At school we are tought math/programming using tools like Matlab. These tools are very complete and very expensive (for non-students). Since there are better alternatives for education (open, free, customizable, etc) I want to learn those. This way it will be easier for students to download and install the program. In principle more people could download and use it (because free), so in the end more user experience is available.

  My goals are:

  1. Learn open source math software myself
  2. Bring education and open source closer together

  If I find the time for it, I would like to help in the organisation of the study group.
