Anyone can follow a course on P2PU. Participating is the next level of engagement. The sign-up is a space where interested individuals can express their interest and background in the topic and commit to working with the rest of the participants. Please answer the following set(s) of questions if you want to become a participant or organizer.
Standard Set
This set of signup questions is common to all study groups, courses, ... in P2PU. The answers to these questions will be public once you get accepted.

This course is intended to help the individual who is new to web development become an expert entry level front end web developer.

Now that you have been accepted into this course. You are accepting the reality that the tasks are labor and time sensititve. It is our goal that you become immersed in the technology that is front end web development as soon as your ability to learn the skill set allows.

Standard Set Answer:Public Set Answer:I have always been interested in web development since my first web-pages made in Netscape. I have however not been able to keep up with the hobby, and although I have quite a few pages made with Joomla I can't keep up with the coding at times. So back to the basics I guess.
If I can master all the things I dream of mastering I might be able to find myself a job working with the stuff I love instead of whatever crap I do today to get some income. Even if I can't get a job wthin web development I can still feed some of my projects that have all come to an end due to ignorance.
I am a quiet guy with not so great social skill until I can feel and trust the people I am with, so I doubt I can help in anyway. But if I can I probably will. :) I like helping people when I finaly get the chance.

I hope to gain a better understanding of the roots to great web design. I dont want to learn simply the point and click directions but I am hoping to fully understand how websites work with html and css, so that then my understanding of Dreamweaver will become more deeper.

I'm new to this group and hopefully, by the end of this and other related courses, I'll have the skillset and confidence required to go ahead with live implementations on my own.
I came across this site via a google search and boy am I glad I found it. I wanted to start off by enrolling myself in an introductory course to get the feel of the community. So... here I am :)

I tried several MOOCS,but was quite disapointed about the teaching methods used there.
For me the number one motivation for learning online is the social interaction with teachers and students.
This in my opinion seems to be an aspect most MOOCs underestimate and even ignore.
So I hope to find the right place at PO2PU to learn together with other students from all over the world.

I tried some moocs but was quite fast demotivated by the learning methods there.
I had the oportunity to hear a speech of Philipp Schmidt in Berlin which was verry inspiering.
So I decidet to give P2PU a chance and try it out.

Is the course mostly centered around "programming" webpages(technical aspect) or is there a part concerning about "good" desingn of these pages?
To what extend will the course be centered on practical exercises or projects ?

I did a little C++ and HTML in high school, but now, I think it could be another part-time job. I like problem solving and being creative.
