I present regularly to instructors of adult learners, including community colleges, on the topic of writing for work in the 21st Century. My presentation focuses on application-based writing, with a particular focus on writing as a soft skill in workplace settings. What is interesting about the presentation--which focuses on the fact that writing instruction for adult learners should focus on the ways in which they will write for work and life--is that it is an uphill battle to get teachers to accept the idea that teaching adult learners to write an effective email to a coworker is more important to their career and life success than writing a five-paragraph essay.
I hope to learn how writing instruction in the 21st Century is adapting with the tools learners now have available to them and the various goals of writing, be it socially, educationally, personal interest, or career-oriented. I'm also simply interested in seeing how working in an online, collaborative group setting works, as I have never taken a course here on P2PU.
Given a very hectic work schedule over the next couple months, plus the fact that this is my first experience on P2PU, I don't believe that I'm currently a good fit in helping with study group organization. If and when I join future courses, I will likely be interested in doing so.

I've been collecting data since the start of this semester and I'm excited for the chance to share it with other teachers. I expect the exchange to enhance my work in the class room and help me discover variations to the things I'm already doing. Hate to say it, but I have no interest (at this time) in study group organization.

I saw a tweet by Troy Hicks, read the blog post that mentioned this initiative and came over to participate. I have been trying to use digital writing this year and have only in"visits" --I do not believe that I have made digital writing an important part of the course yet. We do use Google Docs and have a class wiki--I just want to be better at it.

Standard Set Answer:
I have long been interested in the ways that digital tools is "changing" the way we write, or at least, re-shaping the ways we conceive composition. Video, audio, links and other attributes of the digital canvas, plus the wide array of literacies in young people's lives outside of school, are shuffling our expectations of what it means to write.
I hope to engage in some interesting discussions about what it means to be a writer in the age of technology, and how other educators are not only seeing the change, but adapting to it, particularly in this age of standardized assessments.
