Participate

This group studies Baroque art history of Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.

This study group examines the history of art in three of the most important art-producing centers of the seventeenth century. It follows the first two units of a course available at The Saylor Foundation. By the time we finish this course, we will be familiar with the most important art and artists of Western Baroque art.  Familiarity with art history is helpful, but not requried.

The course lasts for four weeks, each week being completed at your own pace. We will respond to the material covered on the course "Activity Wall" and will schedule a weekly chat for more structured discussion time.

posted message: Hi, all! Hope the beginning of our first week is going well for everyone. I wanted to reply to Kevin's post and say that Skype works for me. What about the rest of the group? If need be, we can always set up a couple of different live chat times to accommodate the varying schedules of all of the participants. Let us know your thoughts!

I am fine using Skype. However, I would tend to favor a written chat, as it is less sensitive to bandwith issues, it can be followed from a cafe or library, and it is easy to archive for later consultation (in particular for those who can't attend to the chat).

I have never Skyped - personally - although I have been nearby. I may need some talking through it. The power is out due to one of those wonderful West Michigan thunderstorms, but I will look into it more when I get power back or when I can get WiFi and an outlet. The battery will only last so long! 10:00 am - 10:00 pm EST would be fine for me, unless I have a shift to work that day.
