A course to explore using free, open educational resources in K-12 classrooms

This course will explore how a variety of free, open educational resources (OERs) can be used in K-12 classrooms. In this course, you will research, remix, and use OERs suitable to your students' needs and also publish some of your own educational resources under an open license. Plan to come learn and teach as a part of this course community; open to U.S. K-12 educators.

posted message: In Victory for Open-Education Movement, Blackboard Embraces Sharing from : http://www.downes.ca/cgi-bin/page.cgi?post=56484 Two comments: it's about time, and welcome to the party. Blackboard has "announced plans to add a 'Share' button that will let professors make those learning materials free and open online." What's significant is that institutions will be able to share access without cost to themselves. "In the old contract, colleges could have been charged extra for every additional person who viewed course materials placed on the Blackboard software platform... [now] any outsiders who are invited to look in will not bring extra charges to a college....

This is very exciting, can't wait to see it live in action!

This is exciting. You can have open content even in closed LMSs!

Lets hope it isn't "free" of cost but otherwise closed for OER use.
