Understanding the social web

Let's start this study group by defining what is the social web by defining what is a community.

Wikipedia's definition of a Community is :

[...]

In human communities, intent, belief, resources, preferences, needs, risks, and a number of other conditions may be present and common, affecting the identity of the participants and their degree of cohesiveness.

Online Communities are familiar to us because of social netoworks where we see different niches of people gathering around a common interest. Social media collectively refers to content (Blogs, forums, wikis, tumblrs, podcasts, videos, ....) created by people, a group of users we refer to as community.

We must identify 3 key roles:

1. Creator

2. Publisher

3. Channel (this is the model in which given a certain degree of control, a territory, tools displays content created by people within the boundaries of a given system)

First task would be : For your specific project, define what the group of people are. Around what common interest or goal are they gathering?
