Me 1.0: Carefree grad student. Loved programming in c and c++. Earned some money coding for a Hollywood studio. But that was a loong time back.
Me 2.0: Studied MBA and got into the business of managing money. Did this for 6 years till 2009. Got fed up of it one day and quit.
Me 3.0 (Current version) Started a web development and digital marketing company. Want to learn HTML, PHP and CSS3 to give young programmers in my company a run for theit money.
I live in New Delhi, India. Love cycling, watching movies, and reading. Looking forward to a great learning experience here and making friends.
Location: New Delhi, India
Standard Set Answer:
I want to learn web development because I want to develop some websites. I have read a lot about HTML5 and how it makes developing websites more interesting. I have no privious programming background. I think HTML5 CSS3 PHP and JavaScript will be good to begin with.
Want to learn HTML5 best practices and learn by interacting with other students here, and by doing. And yes make some friends.
I honestly don't know if I am qualified enough to do that. But I am ready to give it a try.

Standard Set Answer:
My wife is starting a business and I would like to be able to help her a bit with her website. I've never really been involved with web code, but I'm hoping it's not too different than some of the other languages I already know. I figured HTML5 would be a great place to start since it seems to be the backbone of websites and would be a great jumping point. I'm hoping to achieve a good understanding of HTML5 so I can help my wife with some minor tweaks to her site. It always seems easier to tweak at the code base rather than using WYSIWYG editors and such. While I would love to help with study group organization, I am a full time employee and a father of 3 kids, so I fear my time is very limited.

I'm very interested in web development/design. The power of being able to design a tool/webpage that once published on the internet is usable by anyone in the world regardless of operating system, and without having to install anything is really exciting.
I'd like to expand my knowledge of HTML, and learn about the new features that HTML5 brings.
I have some basic HTML/CSS/jQuery knowledge, and some limited experience using Django.

I'm retired.
During my working life I started out as a Production Engineer for the first ten years or so. Worked for an automobile maker in Sydney (I worked on the infamous P-76!) and other engineering companies.
Moved to Canberra and was employed by the Australian Government for thirty years. Moved from engineering into computing and worked my way up the "greasy poll" to become a senior manager with responsibilities for systems development and support. In retirement I build and support websites for not-for-profit organisations.

I've always been interested in web development but I never really been giving enough effort. By participating in this group, I was hoping that I'll get a better motivation and actually learn much more. I already know some stuff about web development, like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HTML5 is something relatively new but is already widespread which is why I thought that it'll be a good idea to try to learn it.
About the help part, of course. I'd want to help as best I can.
