I am a technology integration specialist and want to learn more tricks and techniques for helping teachers develop interesting, timely resources to use with their students. I hope to learn about new resources and develop new contacts for creating resources that make a difference to my students and teachers.
Public Set Answer:
The syllabus looks interesting--not too heavy of a load, which is a good thing!
I am curious about remixing. I have not heard the term used in this sense before, but it really describes the process that I want to use as I create resources for teachers to use in the computer lab and in their classrooms. Pulling the "good" parts of many different resources into one lesson accessible through our Moodle or on SmartBoards is exactly what I need to do. We have recently purchased SmartBoards for every classroom in our building and teachers are clamoring for more resources. I hope that this course will expose me to new OER sites and a better sense of what will work with my current resources.
I can offer some assistance to other learners with how to use Moodle and creating SCORM packages. I have researched that topic quite thoroughly--now I need to learn how to use all of the programs that I have found. I have been trained in SMART Notebook 10 and feel comfortable with the idea of pulling content into that platform as well.

I'm a big propoonent of OER and see its huge potential in teaching and learning.
I'd like to see and hear how teachers are using OER effectively in their classrooms and, generally, learn from my peers.
I don't think I'll have much time or ability to help with the course organization. But I'll pitch in as I can.
Public Set Answer:
I'd like to create for myself a task to understand fair use of copyrighted materials as I engage in the process of remixing with the idea of publishing under an open license.
I believe I can commit to much of what is expected, though as I explained via email, I'll be out of the country during the first two weeks of the course with only spotty connectivity.
I believe I can contribute thoughtful questions and OER examples like my organization's website, Digital Is. I think I can also contribute curiosity and experience both as someone paying attention to digital literacies and as a former public school teacher.

I am always looking for ways to enhance instructional delivery that will encourage my students to become fully engaged with the curriculum and promote high order thinking processes...an area of deep concern for me as a virtual teacher.
Location: Bridgewater Academy
Standard Set Answer:
I am interested in this topic because I create additional resources for my struggling students to support their understanding of the curriculum on a daily basis. I am hoping to discover resources to aide me in this arduous task of finding appropriate and "free" materials that I may use for my students to heighten their awareness of a topic or refine their skills set.
I may be interested in helping with course organization once I understand the necessary task requirements
Public Set Answer:
I can commit to completing the tasks in this course and relish the opportunity to work with like minded educators to improve my instructional techniques.
I would like to focus my work on the support of my struggling students who require multiple opportunities to review content. I need as many resources as possible to provide for them and this OER course appears to be a great solutions to my exhaustive quest!
I believe that I am a guide for my students on their own journey for knowledge and understanding. I believe that I can offer my insights and expertise in what I have "picked up along the way" as an educator as I am willing share all that I learned with others. I believe that collaboration is important for effective professional development and look forward to the opportunity to share with others.

Standard Set Answer:
I am a novice in the field of computer and I am seeking to expand my knowledge base.
I hope to understand what open license means and how it can be useful to me as an educator.
I currently have a very limited skill base in this realm (literally-most of my students know more than I do). If the task is very simple and very easy to do, I will do my best to help!
Public Set Answer:
As I am on a major learning curve, just understanding the terminology is a breakthrough.
I don't know enough at this juncture to know how an open license would be useful. I assume that I will need this to set up a website to apply GoogleApps.
I am very uncertain about what I can add except the viewpoint of a novice in this field.

OER is new to me, but I'm always looking for good resources to use in my classroom or to share with others. I want to learn more about Web 2.0 plus other tools and how to combine them all in a lesson to best fit my students' needs.
I hope to add new resources to my toolbox. I hope to become a better mentor/leader for my staff and others in regards to online resources and classroom uses.
Yes, I'd be interested in helping.
Public Set Answer:
I can commit to the tasks in the syllabus with the exception of the webinars. I am Deaf. Any webinar class that requires signing on with a phone connection won't work for me. However, if there is an option to use texting or email to communicate I'd be able to participate in that way. Having webinars available for review later with captioning added would also be a great option for me.
I'd like to focus on a curriculum for Seniors to work on creating a portfolio and an online HS and Beyond plan. I would create the lessons online using the remixing strategy.
I have recently completed a class with various Web 2.0 tools. I'd offer discussion on how these tools can be used as part of the resources. I'm also familiar with Smart Board and want to include lessons created for this use in the classroom.

Standard Set Answer:
I have worked with developing and reviewing digital content and have found that it is not sustainable to continue creating and maintaining without the help of others. I've worked with OERs in the past but would like to learning more about new ways of remixing content. I am also interested in the format of how this course is run and value the opportunity to meet with other professionals. I am able to help with the course as needed.
Public Set Answer:
I'm familiar with the Week 2 items so I may try to differentiate a little that week. During Weeks 4 and 5 there may be some natural connections with Universal Design for Learning as content is customized for students. For the remix project I plan to focus on creating an instructional resource for online course orientations. In looking at the syllabus, I have experience using and searching for some open source content (NROC, Merlot, etc.) and have worked with CC licensing and searching.

I am interested in this topic because I am currently searching for resources for my online science classroom and have been struggling find age appropriate, challenging and accesible material for my students. I am also interested in researching more of these resources for the other teachers that I am leading.
I hope to find many resources that I can use/modify for my uses. I also hope to encourage others to use more online environments for their classrooms. Science has traditionally been very classroom oriented and I am hoping that I can share my experiences in teaching science in a wholly online environment.
I am open to helping with the course organization. I find that often upper level science and math tend to get overlooked and I hope that this will be an opportunity to create more dialoge in those areas. I also find that it is challenging to find resources and discussions that walk the line between elementary and college level.
Public Set Answer:
I can commit to the tasks described however, I am interested to see how the groups break out for working collaboratively. My experience has been that it is unusual to have many upper level science instructors in the course to work with.
I will be focusing primarily on researching tools for building more online physics lab environments or using simulations for that purpose. I will also be exploring online chemistry lab environments for use in my classroom. I am interested in remixing a variety of the available resources to produce a more tailored set of lab options.
I have spent much time exploring various paid and unpaid options for the science teacher and I will be helpful in discussing with people whether their content will work for their purposes. I hope also to be able to work with people to tailor the available resources to suit their needs.

Working as an Intermediate Middle School Science Specialist, I see great potential in becoming aware of how OERs can be tailored for use by middle school science teachers. I must admit I have virtually no experience with the world of OERs so everyone should be witnessing my very steep learning curve.
Location: Friendswood, TX
Standard Set Answer:
Teaching students who are digital natives demands instructional modes that speak to the needs of students living in a technology rich environment.
I hope to achieve a broadened awareness of science resources that are available online and tweek those offerings to meet the needs for teaching state standards.
I am not sure what helping with the course organization entails so I will wait to answer that until I get more information.
Public Set Answer:
I have read the syllabus and once I gain more familiarity with OER I will be happy to offer comment. I can fulfill the current tasks as described.
A focus that is meaningul to me is to remix content and publish content that is specifically directed toward the needs of students who are academically at-risk in achieving success in Science.
In order to meet the needs of students with varying ability, I have had to be creative in designing high-interest instruction and experiences. I recognize the value in collaborating with other teachers to enrich the body of instruction that offers greater impact to students.

I see great opportunity by contributing to and utilizing the various OERs available. I am interestsed in learning more about them for potential (and immediate) use in K-12 online learning opportunities.
I would be interested in assisting with the course.
Public Set Answer:
I've reviewed the syllabus and provided feedback, so at this point it looks perfect.
I am unsure of what content I will focus on for my work. I am on the fence between "adopting" a K-12 course to model potential use or to utilize content from personal hobbies.
I can contribute experience in the online learning realm and feedback from a large K-12 virtual school. Hopefully, I can also share creative uses and generate excitement around this topic.

I am a retired middle school science teacher who also was a computer skills teacher before finishing with 10 years as a district computer coordinator.
Now, in happy retirement, I focus on Free/Libre Open Source Software and other things open.
Location: Massachusetts, USA
Standard Set Answer:
Topic interest: I want to explore the possibility of getting all public educators to be conributors to OER so that their understanding of how students learn can be available to others.
Hope to achieve: I want to interact with others who want to see OER have a prominent place in education for today and tomorrow.
Organization support: I'll be happy to help course organization in any way I can.
Public Set Answer:
1) I added my syllabus comment to the Google Doc. I can commit to the tasks with the understanding that I'll be able to apply any of my contributions outside actual K-12 classroom settings. I hope that materials I may produce will be useful to others, though.
2) I would like to focus on middle school plant life OERs. It is a commonly underexplored part of a science curriculum. Animals seem to be a bigger focus of the life science courses though plants are actually much easier to study in a classroom and suburban/outdoor setting.
3) I'd like to assist any willing class participant by offering proofreading/editing support.
