Write the grant [March 12, 2012, 8:40 p.m.]
Writing your letters, grant proposals, and supporting materials is very important. It's a lot of work, but worth doing right. When you write your grant, make sure to:
- Carefully consider the funding organization's goals and make sure you address them in your grant.
- Write a clear description of your project that conveys your passion for why you want to do this.
- Include a concise opening that explains your idea and makes people want to read more.
- Stay within any suggested length requirements. If in doubt, keep it short. Grant readers and funders are busy people!
- Include a clear detailed budget.
- Include letters of support from your advisor and anyone else who is participating.
- Have others read your materials and give input.
- Proofread! Typos or grammar mistakes don't look good.
Once you have a first draft of your grant proposal, you can draft it here to get comments from others. Make sure to include any specific areas you'd like feedback on.
