I have recently moved from eastern Europe, have two masters degrees (international economic relations and international business), but am truly passionate about psychology overall and social psychology in particular as well as am deeply interested in the notions of social and emotional intelligence... working for non profit, living a cosmopolitan healthy lifestyle and with childish enthusiasm believe that every single person should be the change he or she want to see in the world :)

Standard Set Answer:
I am interested in this topic because friendship is a significant and influential part of social life from my point of view. It is important to understand the issue and be capable of explaining it.
I hope to become more aware and understanding about the issue of friendship.
Unfortunately I am in the middle of moving and job search and I would be able to help with the study group organization starting October.

A friend suggested I join this, but the topic has been of interest to me for quite a long time. I am currently a PhD candidate in Philosophy and one chapter of my dissertation focuses on friendship and love.
I look forward to learning from the thoughts and prespectives of others. As well as sharing suggestions for resources.
I'm not sure what would be invloved in helping with group organization, but it could be something I would be interested in.

Standard Set Answer:
The question of what friendship is is a fascinating one. I would like to clarify for myself what the different kinds of friendly relationships between individuals might be, what characterizes these relationships and interactions, distinguishing between the various kinds and contrasting them with non-friendship relationships, and what kind of moral duties friends might have towards each other. This is of practical importance to me because I have friends. I probably want to know more, but I can't think of what I want to know right now.
Friendship in Nicomachaean Ethics has stuck in my head because a close friend read a passage from it during his wedding vows.
I might be interested in helping with the study group organization, but I have little experience in such things and don't really know what it entails.

came into contact with P2PU people on the Open Knowledge Conference in Berlin - very good experience - somehow learningTeaching with an open mind is probably the shortest description of what I'm interested in - I just wanted to put this is as a quick response - and finally what I'm doing right now is building an application to collect, relate and share ideas, observations and discoveries using a P2P network - it is http://myNeat.net
Location: Berlin
Standard Set Answer:
what we made interested: the notion of friendship, both from everyday life perspective and as philosophical term, which I'm following for quite a while
what I hope to achieve: viewpoints of other people, beyond what's known from literature
interested to help: yes
remark: as a follower for 2 days I must admit, that I'm surprised about what seems to me did happen since this course started - not that much :(

Hi folks,
I'm passionate about open content, so to see that P2PU is under Creative Commons BY-SA made me keen to get involved. This was one of the first groups I saw and it seemed interesting, so I'm checking it out.
Cheers,

I'm very interested in Philosophy, and it's something I want to take the time to begin studying. The topic of this particular course seems like a good place to start with basic philosophy as it's something I believe is fundamental to my spiritual beliefs and the fundamentals of a functioning and fair society.
I hope to achieve the ability to expand my learning to other areas of basic philosophy, and to begin to think more creatively and productively.
At the moment, I am unable to help with the organization of the study group due to the limited time I have availble while I am volunteering, but this is my first course with p2pu, so I am hoping to get a good understanding of how things work first, with the intention of taking a more active role in any future studies.

London based. Teaching myself Linux Administation off the back of a co-operative printing project (www.threadme.co.uk), wanting to bring more of our services in house. This splintered off into a multi-vendor project (www.threadmarket.co.uk). The co-operatives I am a member of are members of the secondary co-op Radical Routes (www.radicalroutes.org). I did handle the IT infrastructure at Footprinnt, too (www.footprinters.co.uk)
I'm a bike mechanic at an anarchist bike space in London (www.56a.org.uk/bikeworkshop.html). I am interested in spaces like these which are held in common, where environments of mutual learning are fostered. Spaces where the lines between learner/teacher, mechanic/customer, friend/stranger are blurred.
I'm currently attending two night courses; one in Networking and Linux Administration and another in SQL and Database design.
I'm also interested to hear how people self-organise their time outside of institutions. How to set goals and feel successful with your acheivments. There seems to be a tyranny to structure-less-ness which easily slips into longer working hours with less and less contentedness with what does get done... That said I'm not sure I'd have it any other way. I love learning.

Standard Set Answer:
I am interested in friendship and I hope to learn about some of the effects the internet and social media have affected social-relations. How I can raise my awareness of my own situation. How to make friends across these boundaries.
I am also quite involved with another study network, Linux, which will branch out into many nodes and so thought it would be useful to get involved with the organization of a more developed group, like this one, to try and act as a bridge/membrane across which to transfer some of the knowledge across to this newer group.
I am interested in helping with the organizing of the study group.

Mathematician turned web geek turned mum. Also interested in psychology, law, politics, philosophy and stuff.
Location: Bristol, UK
Standard Set Answer:
I'm interested in philosophy and psychology but haven't read much recently and have never studied it formally. Having said that, my other half is an academic philosopher (who has written about, amongst other things, Aristotle) so I do read some of his stuff and talk about his work at home.
The main thing I'd like to get out of participating is exposure to a new topic and some conversations with interesting people. I'm also currently thinking about studying again in a more formal setting and although this is very different it seems like a good first step.
I'd be happy to help with organisation, if that's useful. Having said that, I have a full-time job and a 16 month old daughter, so my spare time is limited and somewhat unpredictable.

I love meeting new people. But I'm not always the best at keeping within my boundaries (I mean that in a platonic sense)
Taking part in a group that talks and studies on this subject will hopefully improve my skills at communicating with friends. and making sure they don't think I'm a jerk!
