Bio:
I am a former Writing Project fellow, literacy coach, teacher and instructional designer currently facilitating teacher professional development with Northwest Evaluation Association.
Location: MD
Standard Set Answer:In my work as an instructional designer, I helped faculty members build online content for undergraduate courses. I now work with k-12 teachers and administrators, providing professional development that focuses on using classroom formal and informal assessment to design engaging and highly interactive learning experiences for students.
I am interested in collaborating with teachers to determine the best mix of online and face to face tools both for their own growth as teachers and in helping the various types of learners in their classrooms. I believe that we will see a static curriculum comprised of 200 page textbooks and workbooks for every unit become a thing of the past very soon. Curriculum needs to be as dynamic, flexible and differentiated as our students yet while maintaining rigor and focused attention on the learning goals of the district and state. This level of adaptability was impossible even 5 years ago, and I want to explore ways to make individualized, authentic learning for every student a reality.
