1. I think this is the right time if not a little too late to start learning HML5 beucase there are a lot more new devices that can take full advantage of this new technology. As a Front-End Developer this skill is a must in the web development industry, having such a skill will allow me to become a more up to date developer.
2. I am hoping to learnin the basics of HTML5, I've been using HMLT4 for a long time so I hope this will not be too difficult for me.
3. Sure, I am willing to help others and share some industry knowlege to any of my peers.

The increasing move towards a standards based language to simplify development for the multiple platforms (android, iphone, tablets, web).
Also, the move away from frameworks like flash and silverlight towards more native functionality within the browser.
I hope to learn and immerse myself into HTMl5 and giving back to the community as well of anything I learn by helping through study groups etc.

Unemplyed so it's time for a career change. I have played with various aspects of web development but never seriously studied any of them. Have been working with Dreamweaver using "Dreamweaver 5.5 the Missing Manual" for the last few weeks on my own. Working with a group sounds like it would be very beneficial.
-
I hope to extend my understanding of HTML5 so that I can design better websites.
