My name is James and I am a Graphic Designer and Web developer who has a passion for making things.
I am currently studying Graphic Design at Ravensbourne and have just completed my first year. It’s good because I keep meeting interesting people who have a passion. And bad because they are not normally as experienced and geeking out normally turns into a lecture.
I freelance, making relatively mundane websites for un-interested clients. I have worked in a design and marketing studio having been hired under the pretense that I can design for web and print. Turns out that I have a real passion for development for the web, both front and back.
I am currently working on an idea for a social service for my friends and me. A problem I am currently encountering is, I keep finding better ways of doing things.
I love to absorb information and have a real passion to plan and execute projects. I have experience in the usual suspects; HTML5, CSS, JS, PHP, MySQL and Python. Also jQuery, Node, Wordpress.

I would be interested the study group if my skills were deemed fit for purpose :p

I recently started a P2PU Study Group called "Breaking the Language Barriers". If you're interested in teaching your native tongue, please send me a private message. You can view my personal website here.
You have the opportunity of a lifetime with the free university provided by P2PU. Make good use of your opportunity. I know I will.
P2PU and YOU are leading the way to an open web! Our world needs to be one that is open, along with an open web and open society, where no one has to worry when their next meal will be, and if they become ill, that they, regardless of income, would be able to get the very best medical care in a free and open society. Furthermore, every person should be treated with respect, fair and equally regardless of income level, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or color.

Standard Set Answer:(1) My 13 yeard old son and I often make little comedies he comes up with to show family members. He started doing this when he was 8 or 9 because we purchased a JVC HD Camcorder, the kind you didn't need to purchase tapes for because it had the 30GB HD built in. About a year ago it finally went caput, so now he's using the latest sliderflip. He wants to sit here with me and take the class together. So, filming, acting, and creating even a greater bond with my son is what draws my personal intersest in this awesome class.
(2) Imagine that it takes only one person with the right video content (or other avenue) to entertain, educate, and influence an audience. My favorite artists was John Lennon, and he was able to influence a wide audience across the world with his "Give Peace a Chance." Wow, everytime I hear that song and gives me chills...still. This is what we hope to achieve as our goal.
(3) We will help as much as we can. But remember, all we have is a flipslider video recorder.

l Iove to learn whether i succeed or not.
Location: Wisconsin USA
Standard Set Answer:Hello All,
I love to learn and i enjoy watching youtube videos simply for all the different videos that are out there. If the video is in a different language, thats ok, if theres no sound, that ok, poor quality, whatever. Somebody cared enough to communicate, and thats good enough for me whether i agree or not with the idea.
I would like to hear other peoples thought and views on various videos and someday make one. I understand i can already make a video, i also understand it may be a lot better if i am exposed to other peoples ideas.
I may be interested in helping with organization if i can learn the skills to do it.

Long time in the Math/Comp Sci game as a systems analyst, software engineer, high-tech business management and currently a web site developer. Now I am turning to video. Learning to shoot and edit video with the goal of being a "Content Producer". Skills include numerous programming languages and web development tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Php, JQuery BUT need continuing Ed in the modern web tool skills such as Html-5 and Css 3. I see the wave of the future for me as developing video content and delivering it on laptops, net-books, smart phones and tablets.

Standard Set Answer:Interested - Currently learning to shoot and edit video. I searching for ways to deliver om-line content that is in the format of video and audio.
Achievement Goal - Learn the Art of Content delivery over the Internet via Laptops, Smart phones and Tablets.
Helping the Organization - Well this is my first contact with p2pu (stimulated by installing FireFox 4 and exploring) and I like the idea behind open learning. My view is Knowledge should be FREE and easy to access. Let the human learn what the human wants to learn. SO... can I help with the organization I don't know enough to answer that question. I need to know more about how this p2pu works.

What made you interested in this topic?
I want to learn HTML5 and specifically how it's enabling video and thus stories to be experienced in new dynamic ways. I make films-videos but haven't really made interactive videos yet and that's what I want to do here. I have web build chops HTML, CSS and Wordpress but seriously lack in Javascript knowledge and want to learn abouit it and popcorn and their power with creating video- storytelling experiences.

What do you hope to achieve by participating?
Practical interests. I want to create a prototype, website web expeirence. I want to immerse myself in individual learning and small group learning-project. I'd benefit from being with someone with more javascript and programming knowledge but I don't want that to override an opportunity to learn about java-popcorn. I am also thrilled by the diversity of skill and ability here and want to learn and do.
