What made you interested in this topic?
I'm actually working on a video-based open source project to improve the second language oral speaking skills: babeliumproject.com . It has been built using the Adobe Flex framework. Now we are interested in porting the application to HTML5 so popcorn.js is very interesting in that sense.
-
What do you hope to achieve by participating?
I'd like to know if it's possible or at what extent is possible to rewrite the video manipulation code that we have in Babelium (using Flex) by a popcorn.js + some more HTML5 magic solution.

I am interested in popcorn.js as I believe that web can be transformed by having interactivity on web videos. We are talking about a world of oportunitis.
I am hoping to get a great hold of popcorn.js and built an open community website around popcorn.js (and video submission) and also help in its development. Who needs old passive videos (youtube etc) when you have popcorn.js :)

Having spent countless hours of my life immersed in film, a desire to participate in a medium I have learned so much from naturally follows. I am currently studying web development (in particular javascript) and this course would appear to be the perfect compliment to my regimine. The concept of new interfaces to the video format facinates me, and I hope that this will be as rewarding an experience as I anticipate.

Jay Henderson
April 18, 2011, 12:11 p.m.
Bio: My name is J Henderson and my passion is Interaction Design and Web Video Production. I love to research design, implement functional, semantic user interfaces for websites. I also have a secret passion for hip hop dancing too! I am taking a fond interest in HTML5, CSS3, open sourced Geo Location based programming and php. I love this initiative and hope to contribute a bit more during my learning here. Now I shall explain more about me personally:
Growing up creativity along with curiosity consumed my everyday life in Haynesville, Louisiana. My life was quite simple and boring at times so I used my imagination and ADHD to explore new possibilities with a pencil and notepad.
When I was younger I started drawing creating unique storyboards, comics, and colorful sketches. My family took notice to my thirst for creativity and enrolled me into the Junior High Art Program in school to help guide my development. As technology started to expand into video games, motion pictures, and digital content my love for digital media grew enormously.
Interaction Design as a profession creates and sustains meaningful relationships between people and the products and services that they use, from computers to mobile devices to appliances and beyond. I love helping people and problem solving with RESEARCH, DESIGN, and IMPLEMENTATION.

My background is in architecture but currently I'm working on animation. I've learnt HTML and CSS, some actionscript. I'm taking a Video class this spring and hope to get things loaded onto my website.
Location: relocated from London to Midwestern US
Standard Set Answer:
My interests have expanded from 2D animation via Flash, actionscript, and After Effects (with some 3D, Maya and FormZ) to digital video and filmography.
I think it was the power of compositing that made me realize the potential of video. And it was designing my website that made me realize the problems with flash (which doesn't load on some MACs well, and not at all on the iPad, or mobiles).
I'd like to become more conversant with web video and learn how to publish videos to the web without the MAC/mobile problems.

What made you interested in this topic?
I attended Buttercamp, and have had the chance to work with Brett and Ben @WebMadeMovies on a video for a Mozilla project that will be released soon. I think popcorn.js, and the advancements in HTML 5 video, new formats, and all the Javascript tricks are going to create amazing opportunities for the many change agents who are seeking to innovate the web and hack information delivery

What do you hope to achieve by participating?
I would like to create a basic demo video that will allow devs and creatives to play around with options for chromakeying, augmented reality, and more. Examples of my work (whiteboard time-lapse/stopmotion animation) are available at http://www.drawnalong.com
Basic questions: What would the features of a good tester video be? Live action sequences, animation/live action interactions (Who Framed Roger Rabbit meets HTML 5?) multiple interactions between techniques and html5 features? The simpler, the faster, the more complicated, the more stark and awesome the results...
My web-dev credentials are scrawny... I will enjoy learning more so that I will be able to create better and better template videos to assist dev's and project leads to create more interesting demos

Bio: i'm a medical librarian with a thing for ultimate frisbee and microbrews. :) One of the reasons I love medical librarianship over other forms of librarianship is the fact that it seems to be filled with cutting edge technology. I am in no way a programmer, but I wish I was (I took comp sci 101 in undergrad, where we learned a language called Scheme...and back in the days of DOS I used to customize the code for little games that came in the back of 3-2-1 Contact Magazine, but that's all I got beyond some HTML playing). I speak a little bit of Russian (my undergrad major along with math, but I speak no math at all these days). I'm in the midwest right now, but I grew up in NY/PA and went to grad school in Seattle.
i'm a sucker for webcomics.
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Standard Set Answer:
I'm interested in web video as a contributor to my organization's intranet site. Generally, I'm also just interested in keeping up with open tools and I haven't heard of Popcorn.js!
I'm participating here partially to learn about the new P2PU platform; I've been involved for a little while over on the old one, and wanted to test being a participant before I test having a study group over here. But I also hope to contribute video to my intranet site as mentioned above, and also be involved with video documentation of my professional org's meetings, so this topic was a good fit.
Thanks for organizing!

What do you hope to achieve by participating?
I hope to jump-start a new area of interest for me and possibly be able to use in my work.

I am interested in this study group because of my growing familiarity with Javascript and HTML5. I am continually interested in what the internet and our browsers can do when pushed as far as they can go.
This group is focused on a topic of Javascript and HTML5 that I haven't yet used and I think learning more about video and interaction on the web would help me become a better web developer/programmer.
