I'm interested in learning more about developing in general, and currently I'm working on a project that requires me to learn php.
I hope to gain skills that I will be able to use moving forward in developing future pages for rhetoric and composition studies as academics move further and further into the virtual world and away from the traditional brick and mortar.
In the future I would be interested in organizing, but at this point I don't believe that I have the necessary knowledge.

I have been wanting to learn web development for a while now. I am finding it difficult to just use tutorials to learn as I feel I'm just copying what someone does without learning very much. I would like to be able to build and run my own websites if I ever have an idea for a site.
Public Set Answer:
I think PHP is a pretty versatile language to learn as it seems to be widely used, Wordpress, Facebook, etc. and from what I've read and understood, it can do a lot.
