Quantum GIS
We will be using the free/open source Quantum GIS application in order to explore the concepts of Community GIS.
Quantum GIS is open source software available under the terms of the GNU General Public License meaning that its source code can be [freely] downloaded.. QGIS is available on Windows, MacOS X and Linux.
Please visit the Quantum GIS (henceforth QGIS) download page and grab the QGIS installer for your operating system. Once you have downloaded the QGIS application, proceed to install as per the the instructions on the download page. If you have any difficulties, please use this task area to ask for help.
