Standard Set Answer:
I have been interested in Music since I was a small child. I have studied and tried to learn by various means over the years, sheet music, tablature, playing with bands, various types of lessons. Being mostly self taught, I feel that a better knowledge of Music Theory would be very beneficial to me.
I am presently preparing to record a new album of music, but recently became enamored with the idea of taking a hiatus from playing and recording in order to focus specifically on refreshing as well and augmenting my knowledge of music theory, and to learn new styles of music that I never really delved into before.
I am also trying to learn best practices and shortcuts to recording audio with software like Avid Pro Tools, Cakewalk Sonar and others.
I also recently aquired a nice synthesizer, and that has seemed to rekindle a desire to make "electronic music" (the term being used in the broader sense, not neccessarily indicative of a particular genre) which I haven't really done since the decade on the 80's.
I am however beginning to experiment with some House, Dance, Dubstep and that type thing, which is quite a departure from my historical genres of classic rock, southern rock, rock, country, and similar styles in which I typically played acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar and keyboards.
Public Set Answer:
I have Loved music since my earliest memory!
Music excites me, enthuses me, inspires me, motivates me, and takes me on emotional journeys...
To me, music is the spice of life and is at present , the main thing I have to enjoy in life.
I want to learn all I possibly can about music theory and hopefully use that knowledge to create better compositions.
I have studied things like the circle of 5ths, music notation, time signatures and such, but know that I am rusty, out of practice reading music for an example, and also need to learn more music theory to be able to use the knowledge when creating guitar solos for an example.
I feel confident that by taking this course, that I can learn new things and refresh many half forgotten or mostly forgotten things as well.
I feel this course will definitely be beneficial to me as an aspiring composer and songwriter.
