  Week 1 (Oct. 3-9) - Introduction to Differentiated Instruction

  Goals:

  • Get to know each other
  • Get a solid understanding of the basics of differentiated instruction
  • Begin initial planning for your final project

 

  Tasks/assignments:

  • Introdcue yourself in the designated discussion board
  • Read over the course details, syllabus, Orientation and Week One task pages
  • Complete weekly readings
  • Watch a video and explore final project options
  • Participate thoughtfully in the week's discussion
  • Let your facilitator know what final project option you plan to pursue

  Week 2 (Oct. 10-16) - Identifying Learning Styles

  Goals:

  • Understand the basics of learning style theory
  • Identify your own learning style preferences

 

  Tasks/assignments:

  • Complete weekly readings
  • Take a learning styles inventory
  • Participate thoughtfully in the week's discussion

  Week 3 (Oct. 17-23) - Identifying Multiple Intelligences

  Goals:

  • Understand the basics of Garder's Multiple Intelligences theory
  • Identify your own "intelligence" strengths

 

  Tasks/assignments:

  • Complete weekly readings
  • Watch a video, take an "intelligences" inventory, and explore lesson plans
  • Participate thoughtfully in the week's discussion

  Week 4  (Oct. 24-30) - Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences in the Classroom

  Goals:

  • Identify strategies to address learning styles and multiple intelligences in the classroom

 

  Tasks/assignments:

  • Complete weekly readings
  • Identify activities and resources for use in a differentiated classroom
  • Continue work on your final project
  • Participate thoughtfully in the week's discussion

  Week 5 (Oct. 31 - Nov. 6) - Assessment Strategies

  Goals:

  • Understand the role of assessment in a differentiated classroom

 

  Tasks/assignments:

  • Complete weekly readings
  • Explore assessment resources and watch a video
  • Continue work on your final project
  • Participate thoughtfully in the week's discussion

  Week 6 (Nov. 7-13) - Share and Review

  Goals:

  • Look at content-specific differentiation
  • Complete your final project

 

  Tasks/assignments:

  • Complete weekly readings
  • Explore online resources
  • Complete work on your final project and share in the designated discussion board
  • Participate thoughtfully in the week's discussion
