Anyone can follow a course on P2PU. Participating is the next level of engagement. The sign-up is a space where interested individuals can express their interest and background in the topic and commit to working with the rest of the participants. Please answer the following set(s) of questions if you want to become a participant or organizer.
Standard Set
This set of signup questions is common to all study groups, courses, ... in P2PU. The answers to these questions will be public once you get accepted.

- What do you hope to achieve by participating?
- Are you interested in helping with the course organization?
Between Participants Custom Set
This set of signup questions is particular to this course. The answers to these questions will be visible to all participants once you get accepted.
What do you teach (grade and subject), at what school, and what is your email address?
In this course, there will be experiments on student engagement which you must complete in your class or school (see syllabus for details). There are optional (but useful) webinars in the first, third, and fifth weeks. You will be required to try out ideas generated during the course in your own classrooms. And you will need to keep a blog or journal to track your thinking. Please describe your ability to fulfill these requirements.

I teach math at Alpha Omega Academy as an online teacher. I have been teaching for 2 years now. I am interested in finding better ways to bridge that gap between how math is used in our every day lives!
Location: Iowa
Standard Set Answer:
Student engagement to me is one of the most important things when teaching students. If our students are not engaged, they are less likely to learn. Math always seems to have the not fun or uninteresting tag on it.
I hope to find some new and exciting ways to get my kids engaged and to keep them engaged.
I am not too familar with this website but I could help if given some direction I think.

Engagement is of perennial interest to all, I think, but in particular to teachers. I hope to learn about how common strategies are used by effective teachers and look forward to the dialogue that I believe this class will engender. I'm not aware of how I could help with course organization but am open to helping with whatever may arise.
