A study group for teachers using YouthVoices.net with their students.

Youth Voices is a school-based social network that was started in 2003 by a group of National Writing Project teachers.  We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. Students are invited to join Play Youth Voices to learn more about being a power user of the site. Teachers will also find tasks to support them in their use of the site.

sahara bamba said "The term national eating disorder means that Americans have a national problem. Americans have access to many foods around the world. They can become used to it and that makes them want it more. Then they can become obese.

I am concerned about sahara's post because it show that she is having difficulty in accessing the text because of its text complexity and therefore, is unable to get real meaning from her reading of the text and thus prevents her from comprehending the detailed information the author provides.  She is a ELL student and I need to think about other strategies that would help her access complex texts.
