The sign-up is a space where interested individuals can express their interest and background in the topic and commit to working with the rest of the participants. Please answer the following set(s) of questions if you want to become a participant or organizer.

  Handling the massive amount of data that journalists can access is really important to find and fuel stories. I have started to learn programming for this reason, but in a general, university-related setting. Learning it with fellow journalists and tradings tips and ideas would be great.

  • What made you interested in this topic?
    • As part of my job, I run data-driven journalism courses internationally for those looking to get into the field. I believe learning to program is a key skill for those looking to truly unravel the deepest stories. I am keen to get up to speed with some of the newest techniques in the field so that I can continue to teach others & help out the experts who we invite to the events with an extra pair of hands. 
  • What do you hope to achieve by participating?
    • I hope to achieve a better understanding of some of the challenges faced by a total newcomer (as I am!) to the field of data-driven journalism, as well as some programming skills which may help me in my day-to-day life.

  I am already teaching myself Python after realizing that it is by far the most intuitive scripting language. Having a lot of fun with it and want to learn more as well as work with others who have similar interests.
