I liked seeing the diversity of people in this course and the wide range of abilities that everyone has regarding social media and Web 2.0. I also liked the readings and video that allowed you to get a better perspective of the purpose of deeper learning in today's education system.

Be actively engaged and contribute my thoughts and ideas to the experiences I have had with social media and Web 2.0 tools.

I think the way the information and resources are set up in this course is very straight forward and allows for very easy access to the instructors for further instruction, if needed.

What did you like most about Week 1?

I liked the self-introductions, realizing what an international group we are. The video of the high school students in the Digital Youth Network is fantastic and motivating and makes we wish I could do the same thing with my students. The self-assessment activity was great too: it always helps to situate yourself and your current practices and see where you have to go to improve.

Now that you know what P2PU is like, what can you do to better support your own learning on P2PU?

I have to try to read and respond to more posts. Again, time is the problem here.

You’re doing a great job! You are replying to many posts and keeping on top of a huge volume, a difficult job! I think that we as participants need to do more replying to each other’s posts. For example, make your own post and reply to at least one other post in the same view.

I appreciated the layout of the week and being able to read each other's responses.

Take time to reflect before responding and reflect on peer responses. That is where the most learning will come from.

Continue giving feedback and asking questions to deeper our learning.

What did you like most about Week 1? To be honest, not much.

Now that you know what P2PU is like, what can you do to better support your own learning on P2PU? I've questioned who the facilator is. Did I miss the introduction? All I remember is the welcome email. Who is leading this?

Now that you know what P2PU is like, how can we, as facilitators, better support your learning on P2PU? Ask this question later when there has been more lessons. Right now, I haven't seen much of a discussion or a need to respond to other posts.

When you sign in, look to the left where it says "See All", this will let you see the organizers as well as the participants, and then the followers too :)

I am sorry you feel this way. Chris, Natasha and I are co-facilitating the course. Week 1 begins on October 3 (tomorrow). So, we will be quite involved from the 3rd forward! We encourage you to check back over the course of week one to see how discussion evolves. In the mean time, let us know if you need further support in your learning on P2PU.

What did you like most about Week 1

The comments. I love hearing what other peoples experiences are like for them. It makes me appreciate my own and it helps me build bridges to other areas that I'm not familiar with.

The structure and how it was dvided into small chunk like pieces. Less overwhelming that way

I hope we get to use Skype and have a live conversation.

I don't have any suggestions at the moment. I do have a question. Will there be a wiki or a resource center that we can all add our resources?

Pretty soon participants will be divided into groups of 3-4 people. You will get to do lots of Skype with your group to work on the course project and to discuss using social media to promote deeper learning. Because our participants are spread out across the globe we will not do an "all group" call. We will be sharing links and resources via our "kit".

I like the way things are set out and the collaboration with others from right around the world.

Im like harry, I will need to make sure that I stay on top of posting in time.

I would like to know how we a defining social media vs web2.0 becasue we are saying social media and web2.0 however I feel that web2.0 is social media and social media is web2.0. Can someone just clarify some examples of both in context as I am just a little confused in the wording :)

Yes, the terms Web 2.0 and social media are often used interchangably. It's confusing.

To me, Web 2.0 means interactive software (usually used to create or edit content online) that takes place inside a web browser, rather than in software installed on your local computer.

Social media has a broader context in that it involves building social connections with others.

So for example, if I create a Google Doc (basically a word processed document or spreadsheet created in a web-based program instead of using Word or Excel), that's Web 2.0. If I then share that document with someone else to collaborate with, it's also social media.

Does that distinction make sense or agree with how you all think of those terms?

To me ...

Social networking is more interactive conversation in nature

Web2.0 tools are more collabrative in nature

Both could be used in education to increase learning.

I liked the ease of finding the documents, the assignment, and the posts from seeing them shown in my email. I love that I could access the videos and articles so easily!

I need to make sure I stay on top of the posts and make sure I respond to member's posts to further explore a subject and not do just the minimum! I hope sharing the info I have learned will help others share their resources and we will walk away with even more experiences.

Hmmm, it is early to suggest since you might be facilitating videos, links, and examples on line for us as we go through the various modules. I hope these and many more will be made available to us as participants.

Thanks Harry. We appreciate your participation so early in the game (before the course even begins). As for resources that you hope to see available, are there particular resources you would like to see shared within the groups - tools vs. lessons vs. case studies?

Right now I am interested in learning both wordpress ( i use now) and blogger, not using and confused by it. I think any and all tools considered 2.0 I hope to encounter so I can have an ample list of examples to say and show people what 2.0 tools are!
