I want to understand the process of animating fictional characters to deliver educational demonstrations. I also want to understand the process for creating interactive role-playing scenarios. If I can't aquire enough of these skills myself, at least I can better understand how to organize such projects.

What is your favorite Machinima?
Clockwork Machinima "The interface emerged in a embraced moment of dream Simulation, it was a reference to duo existence. The pointer was unexpected and lead me to engage in more in-depth inquires. And so, of course, my first stop was time itself and the machinime, the surreal computer talk, protocols etc. The Mechanics were pre-composed to add a new vision of the platform. A flood of provocative thinking." .
Machinima for me isn't at all only the real time capture, not even closer, neither flying cam videos.... Machinima in my vision can and it is more, it represents a numerous kinds of applications, from the advertising stream to the storytelling, documentary, Journalism(format), etc. Doing this kind of works request fom the producer more and more aknoledgment about "how to deal with..." many tools available to emerge into a deep and well done production. I've been teaching some classes on SL some weeks ago, in portuguese, my native language to increase more inspiration to the emergent new Machinima producers. The market need more "new faces" to become more and more competitive . Bringing in this way more and more relevant artworks.
My main goal, turn Machinima artistry so World Wide viral as the Gamming machinima (from the machinima.com @youtube). Is it possible? I really don't know, and I want to find that answer.

I pursue Art/Music/Beauty/Education and have worn many guises chasing them: 70’s punk rock record store clerk; 80’s hairdresser on fire; 90’s stern German instructor; now an avid academic librarian whose heels click on academia’s echoing halls in both SL & RL.
Currently I am helping develop an SL private island for my university workplace and need all the help I can get!
Location: Western Maryland, USA
Standard Set Answer:
I am interested in this topic, thanks to my participation in the 2012 VWBPE Conference and joining the VWBPE Group in SL with updates and notices!
By participating in this MOOC, I hope to advance the skills I need to fully function and develop content to engage students in SL at my university workplace's new private island!
As an active online educator since 2006, who teaches a course to hundreds of students worldwide each year at a not-for-profit online university, I see the real potential for MOOCs when it comes to ongoing, life-long learning, and want to help if I can!
Public Set Answer:
I have experimented with Machinima in the last few months capturing the SL screen action using FRAPS, but I am still very wobbly and trying to perfect camera moves via keyboard! I have also played around with a few cheap video editors for output, using the free, effective, but very basic Windows Live Movie Maker in my PC environment, as well as the more advanced AVS Video Editor (which I don't like much - I may try CyberLink PowerDirector in the future or something better I have yet to learn about in this course!). I have uploaded Machinima output - once with an added music track - successfully to YouTube, Screencast, and Vimeo, but I wouldn't call it very artistic!
Most of my favorite Machinima releases seem to come from Pooky Amsterdam at PookyMedia! Pooky won a couple of Machinima awards at VWBPE 2012 in March, like for this video, but I was already a big fan. I want to emulate her by capturing an educational slice of life with a robust, well-planned storyboard in SL without getting too much into very abstract things or RP contexts.
There is so much more I want to learn about Machinima: My academic university workplace just invested in a private island, and as the island’s librarian, I want to offer interactive and visual media to engage students and users. I already know how to put URLs up on a screen, but this course may offer the icing on my Machinima cake!

Greetings fellow lifelong learners.
At the University of Central Florida I serve as the Director of Course Development in the Center for Distributed Learning. I helped found Online@UCF and have seen the institution more than double in the 15 years I've been in my role.
I am also a doctoral student researching simulation games, virtual worlds, game-based and informal learning, and complex systems. My program is mostly online offered through Colorado Technical University in Computer Science, Emerging Media. My participation in virtual worlds originated with the New Media Consortium in 2006. In 2011, I was a participant in Gardner Campbell's New Media Faculty Development Seminar via Virginia Tech.
I also participate as I can in the US Army's Military Open Simulation Enterprise Strategy (MOSES) located in UCF's Research Park. UCF is very active in EDUCAUSE and the Sloan Consortium in the United States. UCF's Institute for Simulation and Training is often involved in research for advanced learning technologies.
