This four-week course will facilitate a fire hose of new thinking about the nexus of software, journalism and news. Over the next few weeks, you’ll be working on your own ideas to help shape the future of the news industry that we’ll invite you to pitch.
A knowledge (and love) of the open web is helpful for this course…an interest in learning more is essential.

A bit of feedback regarding Activity Wall: It should be the cafeteria or the public square. I want to come back here and see all the activity without too much digging in, eavesdrop and participate in existing conversations, and get coffee together ;)
So, quick wishlist for the Activity Wall:
- Infinite scrolling: pagination interrupts the flow of going back in time
- Inline commenting and viewing existing threads (Facebook style)
- A low-barrier, quick way of promoting each other's posts
- Showing a preview of each aggregated post (in addition to linking to it)
- An 'online' indicator/gleam for people who are currently online in chat rooms
- Recognize formatting in the edit box!
