I'm intrested in javascript/html5 mainly becouse of universality of the web platform. Write once - run everywhere - looks great to me. I like the idea of learning something new by creating some app in the process.
So far I've programmed in my free time only few tiny applications in AS3 and Adobe Flex - so I know basics of programming in ecma-script-like language.
I wonder if it would be hard to write puzzle game with multiplayer mode in javascript, or maybe I should choose something simpler for the beginning.
English is not my native language - I'm not great at writing and even worse in speaking in english, so it can be hard for me to be orgaznizator. I can try to help within mine poor range of abilities...

1) What made you interested in this topic?
I have always been interested in games and in college i created a few but they were hard to distribute to friends and they never came out the way I had hoped. A few weeks ago I read a few articles on HTML5 and was instantly hooked. Since then I have been learning non stop and looking up the best way to do things. I am constantly learning and looking to push the envelope. I am currently starting to write a small game with a friend who is doing the artwork and I really want to produce something polished and playable.
2) What do you hope to achieve by participating?
I would like to further my skills in HTML5/Javascript programming as well as learn more about game design and specifically Game Engine design. I also hope to learn and help others with the knowledge I have aquired.

To be short, I love web and I love games.
I had a few experiences in games programming in languages like darkbasic and C. But my speciality is the web development.
So I would like to follow this course to put together my two passions. Furthermore, I think that standard web programming will have increasing importance in the near future.
It's why I want to improve my knowledges on this topic and enjoy the course!

Location: Boulder, CO
Standard Set Answer:
I'm interested in this topic because html5 game development is a very interesting proposition from a recovering flash developer such as myself.
It's an idea that's genesis came after I graduated college (2009) and now the ubiquity of the technology and the diffusion of the necessary skills has begun ramping up in a big way.
I'd like to understand this technology for my resume, for the expansion of my personal knowledge and to blatantly and fully rip-off my favorite game of all time (Galaga).
I completed the signup and posted to my github here

What made you interested in this topic?
Personally I like gaming a lot, so why not developing one on my own? Many ideas have crossed my mind for the type and genre of the game, but the ideas are not the problematic part, the client-side technologies are. To have moving parts in the browser along with a little sound support, you could use flash or java applets. But both of them require you to install a plugin and as the past has proven both plugins tend to be insecure. Wouldn't it be great if the browser's native components could be used to instantly play a game?
HTML5 seems to be the answer to all these questions and a dynamic group of learning participants, helping each other out, seems the best way to go.
What do you hope to achieve by participating?
I hope to be part of an active group so we all learn the required skills to develop a simple game. For myself the focus is not the game itself, but to learn the basics and "dirty tricks" all games have in common, resulting in a stable game structure, which performs well and can be the base of several games.

Standard Set Answer:
Hey all,
I am Gaurav frm India, a recent graduate with a Diploma in Digital Media from NZ. I am into front-end web and user interface development. Previously I have worked as QA Lead Game Tester for four plus year with a Game Testing company and with this study group I want to enrich my domain of knowledge by learning simple and intricate details as to how to develope games with HTML5 and JavaScript.
I was recently asked to develop an html5 game at a job interview and I was unsure as to how to make it. And I am glad I came across p2pu and I am very much interested to learn and be a part of this study group. Thou I am noob at JavaScript, but that doesn’t scare me, I am up for the challenge.
I hope to learn a good amount of java scripting and html5 with proper code implementation. Being a part of the study group will also help gain a different perspective towards how one should write and debug code.
thanks !
