So many great learning resources and communities out there, but how do I get started? How do I make plans, achieve goals, and hold myself accountable without traditional courses or grades?
In this group, based on The Edupunks' Guide, we'll write personal learning plans and try building relationships with people who can help us.
Anyone can follow a course on P2PU. Participating is the next level of engagement. The sign-up is a space where interested individuals can express their interest and background in the topic and commit to working with the rest of the participants. Please answer the following set(s) of questions if you want to become a participant or organizer.
This set of signup questions is common to all study groups, courses, ... in P2PU. The answers to these questions will be public once you get accepted.

What made me interested in this topic can be summed up by saying this, where the rubber meets the road. A self-paced online study program has to have structure or what would be the point in spending time learning anything if you don't learn anything.
I hope that this experience will do just that add structure to my self-learning endeavor.

I'm some what new to the world of programing. I have taken a college course for C ++ and it seemed to really click with me. Since that class I have started to teach my self some java for developing android apps. Now that I know a bit of java im now looking to learn web design, as well as increasing my knowlage of java. Our team compeates in 3 man and 5 man speedball as well as 24 hour scenario games. I am a big adrenaline junky. I love rollercoasters, I've been sky diving and scuba diving both of which I wish i could do more often but they are to pricey.

I read read an Edupunks Guide to a DIY cradentail and finally felt like someone was fully articulating the thoughts and feelings I was having about higher education. I have just bought DIY U and have read Personal Learning Networks by Will Richardson and The World is Open Curtis J. Bonk among other papers and am very interested in the topic. I have just droped out of uni to persue my own Self-Directed Study as uni wasn't cutting it for me.
I hope to grow my Personal Learning Network and make significant conections with like minded people. I believe that all of this will help me develop and refine my Personal Learning Plan and improve my ability to become a succesful Front-End Web Developer and Social Entreprenure.

First and foremost, that it is being taught by Anya Kamenetz, whom I greatly respect, admire and appreciate for being the first person I've seen to get to the bottom of the educational issues affecting our generation and identify concrete ways of improving the situation. "Generation Debt", "DIY U" and now "The Edupunk's Guide" have greatly impacted my life in helping me to recognize that I am not alone in my plight and that there is hope for a brighter, DIY future.
