What made you interested in this topic?
I believe to begin something this big you need a plan to help guide you, to keep you on track and to help you visualize your goal as well as show you how far you have come.
What do you hope to achieve by participating?
I feel I would benefit greatly from the feedback I could get in this forum. While writing my business plan I have hit a brick wall. I think this will help me to figure out why.
Are you interested in helping with the course organization?
Yes. I think for something like this to work everyone has to be willing to contribute. I have at times described myself as intellectually starving to death. I need to learn i want to know. Know everything.

I became interested in this topic this summer while participating in a non-profit organization called Bike And Build. As I was riding my bicycle from Portland Maine to Santa Barbera California and building houses for the Affordable Housing cause through organizations such as Habitat for Huanity, I had a lot of time to think and self reflect. I had always felt that a diploma is worthless if you never actually learn anything, but I decided to take the philosophy to the next level. I chose not to return to school at the start of my senior year in college to prove to myself and others that what matters most in this world is not an overpriced piece of paper that is held by many other unqualified individuals, but instead, actual qualifications that can be measured by personal works and perhaps other things that I do not yet know. In my initial searches I happened to stumble accross the book DIY U and I now here I am.
I hope to become a more effective self learner and to join a network of individuals looking to learn and help others learn.
Yes, I would love to help with the course in anyway possible.

I'm a corporate educator currently on sabbatical.and going back to work in the fall
Location: Toronto Ontario Canada
Standard Set Answer:
several years I did my post graduate in virtual environments. I found I no longer knew how to learn despite that I'm corporate education and organizational development. It was a struggle to adapt to a new environment and learn the tools to engage in the learning process. I'm extremely self-directed and have always taken the approach to know where to go, who to ask and take the information and apply it and yet this was new. I didn't feel adept which is a novel experience for me.
It also asked to experiment, explore, investigate all of which I didn't know how. I did learn but I want to be better at it.
with that I can lead in my environment as a role model for improved learning.
I'm also taking the pilot project School Ed which is challenging to be a better learner
What do I hope to achieve by participating - connecting with other in the class and learning from them.
Are you interested i helping with the course organization - I'm not sure what you mean by that but as I continue with the course I will certainly find ways in which I can add value.

I read Anya's book Edupunk and she is a visionary who inspires me. I am building a community of practice at Bookneto for university students who want to help each other in peer learning and there is a lot I could learn from how this community works. Bio: I am a principal of a design college, as well as the operations manager of a private design education provider.
I have 20 years experience in education, 6 years in management and 10 months in organisational operations. I am very interested in combining design thinking and innovation in to the organisational management of the company.
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Standard Set Answer:
I moved from being a design educator into management. I had to change my way of thinking. From creative instruction to managing a college. In doing this being exposed to areas I had never been before. Confronted with problems that were outside my frame of reference. I felt a little out of my depth, but realized that I could use the skills I already had to assist in this transition between worlds. So using design thinking and innovation I could solve problems and find new ways to manage business. I am still very much a novice in this regard and struggle to make the connection quickly. It takes some time for me to test and apply the process. I need resources to gather more practical experience.

Shiyeyi language program advisor for Lutheran Bible Translators
Location: Botswana
Standard Set Answer:
I am interested in this topic because I am currently in the process of self-directed learning of the Shiyeyi language, spoken in Botswana and Namibia.
My hope is that participating in this course will enable me to structure my Shiyeyi-learning efforts more effectively. I am also interested in making my learning plan and other materials available to others who are also interested in learning to speak and/or read+write Shiyeyi.
I am not sure what I would have to offer to the course organization process at this time, being new to P2PU. While I am interested, my interest alone is probably not enough to warrant a plan to participate in the process in any significant way.

Hi!
I am very interested in this topic of DIY Education. I have been looking for programs in art administration, and have been slightly discouraged by the varying degree of program prerequisites and by the complexity in finding a program suitable for my needs. And not to mention the costs...
I would love to learn how to structure my own education and areas of focus efficiently. I am also interested in learning more about this online and free education movement. Thank you.
