I work as a UX Web Applicatiohn Designer at J.P. Morgan Chase.
I have been designing websites for 3 year.
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Standard Set Answer:Javascript is heavily used in my line of work, however, I am not proficient at writing javascript. I have some knowledge in various aspects of javascript, but I don't consider myself a great coder.
My job demands knowledge in several areas of web design. Javascript and jQuery make up a large part of my job. The other half of the job is spent on the interaction design process.
I'm interested in this topic because I use it often and would like to learn as much as possible. I'm not sure what the study group organization is, but I'd like to learn more.

Standard Set Answer:I signed up for CodeYear at the beginning of this year. While I have been enjoying the work and the course design over there, the pacing is far too slow for me -- I want to work on learning in a faster-paced environment. Still, I appreciate the community-driven aspect of CodeYear (and P2PU, to an even greater extent), and would prefer this course to a truly self-directed approach.
My chief goal is to develop a more thorough grounding in programming concepts, not necessarily restricted to JavaScript -- that is, the language in which I am programming should be a secondary consideration to the methodology I use in my problem-solving. It's my hope then, that I could learn C++ or Java, or Perl, or other languages, being already familiar with the underpinnings of critical thought common to programming in general.
If there remains any further need for anyone to assist in organizing study groups, etc., I am happy to help. I have experience as a former educator and have organized study groups in law school, and am eager to see in what ways learning is altered in the virtual space.
