I am a Senior .NET Developer working in Wellington New Zealand. I've historically worked on large distributed applications, but now find myself interested by JavaScript and client-side technologies.

What made you interested in this topic?
I used an ASP.NET framework called Kalitte Dashboard to develop a dashboard for a client. I realised Kalite Dashboard uses a JavaScript framrwork called Ext JS under the hood and so I got interested in Ext JS and by implication JavaScript.
What do you hope to achieve by participating?
A solid understanding of OO JavaScript, or at least the chance to discuss this with other participants.
Are you interested in helping with the study group organisation?

Javascript is a step towards Java and so far the pdfs for learning java seem problematic when a clear copy paste of hello world tends to have an error

I know the basics of JS, but when I started learning it wasn't long before I found jQuery and I feel like I know more jQuery than JS which is pretty bad (i think).

I have just started working as a developer and have developed a web app for searching different companies. I became interested in JavaScript during this project and wanted to learn more about it. JavaScript seems like a lightweight programming language with a lot of possibilities. And it seems like a lot of fun.
