I am an active geographer (mostly GIS-centric) and a budding web dev. guy; hence, I reached out and found this very cool site. I am into the normal stuff: family, friends, food, fishing, frolic, and so on. But in regards to here, I hope to become a better geographer, citizen, and, well, you know....dude.

Standard Set Answer:
I am interested in this topic because I am a n00bie to programming and have come tounderstand that Javasctipt is widely reported to be a fine beginner language.
As my focus and interest is about web-mapping and information graphics on the web, I hope to learn enough about programming constructs, in general, to apply them in Javascript and perhaps elsewhere, as perhaps in PHP.
I am willing to help anyway I can.

I've been wanting to learn JS for awhile, and have dipped my toes in occasionally, but haven't had the time to really learn it. I'm hoping to do that now.
I'd like to, at the end of the course, at least be able to look at a piece of JS code and understand what it's doing. I'd also like to be able to understand what is possible to do with JS, and have the foundational knowledge to start to be able to figure out how.
I'm not sure what helping with study group organization would entail, but it might keep me focused and continuing to participate, so please let me know.

1) Javascript is a language near and dear to my heart, it is by far my favorite language to develop in. I am an active JS application developer, having developed a couple of large scale MVC based web apps in Javascript.
2) I am hoping to both help out and learn. It is good to see other people's opinions, views, and code, it is good to try and explain things.
3) YES!

I Graduated from the Math and Science Stuyvesant High School in New York City in 1975. I went to Long Island University in 1979 and took various science courses and had a 3.5 GPA but I never graduated as I couldn't really get it together.
I then worked for the New York Daily News for 5 years as an editorial assistant but I quit to get into the field of Health Foods. I worked for 20 years in all positions in health food stores.
It wasn't until 1993 that I got my Bachelors degree from UC Santa Barbara in Latin American Studies. I also had afinished with 3.5 GPA..
I also worked as a bed and breakfast manager for about 5 years. I am currently working on renovating an Estate in the South Jersey shore
Location: New York City
Standard Set Answer:
The reason I am interested in this topic is because I know that I will have fun and be productive and will have many opportunities open up for me in many fields as computers are used in all fields.
I want to get into the computer field as I think an older person like myself (53) with no true marketable professional skills needs to learn something that will be useful for the next few years and beyond. I want to be a productive member in my society and help others do the same. As part of a collaborative peer to peer team I think this is the best way for me to learn at this juncture in my life.
Thank you

On a daily basis you will find Gray Ghost Visuals knee deep in projects such as PHP, HTML, CSS, Database Development/SQL and even print design from time to time. Gray Ghost Visuals was born out of a passion for Fly Fishing, a desire for independence and most importantly a love for Web & Graphic Design. I love to work with clients that not only have a great vision, but also appreciate the artist's input. This ebb and flow between client and designer helps create a final product that will be displayed proudly not only by the client –but the designer as well. Together side by side we can build cool things.
