Anyone can follow a study group on P2PU. Participating is the next level of engagement. The sign-up is a space where interested individuals can express their interest and background in the topic and commit to working with the rest of the participants. Please answer the following set(s) of questions if you want to become a participant or organizer.

  i have a diverse background, drawing from professional work experiences in the fields of journalism, education, student affairs, graphic design and social network technology. i value diversity because i feel it is absolutely necessary for innovation and strong collaboration.
  
  i grew up in hawaii for 18 years and left for college in 2007. i attended washington state university, where i graduated in 2011 with a bachelor's of arts in journalism and a minor in psychology. during and after college, i worked in residence life and advising, and taught an introductory psychology course to two sections of undergraduate students for three semesters.
  
  my hunger for curiosity and passion for journalism has taken me around the world to places like Ecuador, Guatemala, Kosovo, Turkey, Jordan, Israel and elsewhere. I will never stop exploring and pushing the boundaries.

  What made you interested in this topic?

  My official title at work is Product Manager, which basically means I manage builds (Xcode and SVN), produce help content, answer a few technical questions, and make small changes to the website.  I want to improve my web development skills, particularly JavaScript, because I work in an environment that lets me put these new skills to use right away!

  What do you hope to achieve by participating?

  A fundamental understanding of the JavaScript language, aided by peer review.

  Are you interested in helping with the study group organization?

  Perhaps once I become more comfortable with the language and how things work here at P2PU.  For now, I just want to learn.

  1. Been on the to-do list, also recently worked on a website through Squarespace and their currently slideshow creator was SO bad that I actually had to try a little javascript to make my own.  Ridiculous!

  I have an interest in data visualization which is increasingly reliant on javascript.  I hope that by participating that I can enhance my own study efforts.  I'm interested in helping with the organization of the study group but doubt that I am currently qualified.

  Bio:

  I am a forty something recruiter looking to change professions. I lack a solid foundation in computer science/math but am ok on the front end in CSS and HTML with a tad of Javasript.

  I really want to create a web based application by coding the prototype my self. I have been told that Javascript is so central to everything that if I get good at it I will be in good shape. From there I want to learn Jquery and Ajax.
