Standard Set Answer:In trying to learn to customize google spreadsheets in ways useful to me and schools that I work with, it became apparent that I needed to learn Javascript if I didn't want to find myself creating mediocre tools. I'm hoping to develop a better grasp of Javascripting and thus create more flexible tools in google docs through the scripting process. Not currently interested in helping with the study group organization, but more flexible time in the summer may allow for that.

Standard Set Answer:I think I'm fairly typical for front end devs, in that I am using Javascript by using it via JS libraries. Although this serves my current purposes farily well, what I can do is limited to the capabilities of those particular libraries and plugins.
I am seeking an interactive and immersive way to learn Javascript, as an alternative to just reading books. I'd rather have a little bit of guidance, than read a book an work on jsfiddle. I also find that reading other people's comments brings up questions and angles that I hadn't considered.
I am a terrible organizer. It's probably better to avoid me organizing anything, even my pens.
