posted message: As folks are coming together into their groups to collaborate on their Machinima, I'd love to hear how you're going about connecting & working together.
Are you deciding to meet & plan inworld in SL and/or outworld? Are you using a mix of separate tools to build your own framework for your group's collaborative activities or are you using an environment where tools are consolidated, like Google Plus or an equivalent that's commonly used in educational circles?
I think it would be interesting & useful to learn about the different approaches people taking as they go about the business of forming their groups & accomplishing their Machinima projects.
posted message: Hey Everyone!
We're on Week 2! A huge thanks and round of applause to Aevalle Galicia who took us through Week 1 Virtual Worlds Tours!
Week 2 is Machinima!
Our facilitator is Tanya Smedley (SL) or Gridjumper.
She has setup a quite a week for us! Just go to Tasks and start looking for the Week 2 tasks including the field trip to Machinima Monday tonight!

posted message: I have never played WoW and would like to prepare myself ahead of time. I will be playing on my son's account, and will have assistance from him to help me get oriented to the game. But he and I would like to know before I install all of the software and patches on my computer what criteria I need to meet, to be ready to participate in this task? I would have directed this inquiry to the leader of this task, but I cannot find who that is.
posted message: I was late to Friday's tour but it was still such fun...got to fly my own ship. Great spot for Machinima if you can get permission...
Next week is Machinima, be thinking cowboys and aliens. Improv is good fun and group work is makes it even more fun. Lots of roles in machinima and it is not easy to act, direct, talk, film, add audio and edit (though it has been done and everyone will get a chance to do it all). Perhaps you will find a hidden talent!
The scene (old west invaded by aliens) is complete so we don't need to build. There are some props and costumes - dig in your inventory and see what you have in the way of western wear or alien wear.
posted message: Some of us on the tour of the ROMA and Acropolis sites in SL today were asking about the MOOC Flickr account for posting pictures. Turns out we have two active groups for this.
The first (that I became aware of) was started by Gridjumper here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/mooc/
And the second account is located here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/vwmooc/

posted message: Do ARGS (Alternate Reality Games) naturally reflect student passion? Consider the recent Hunger Games phenomenon of local Advanced Placement/college level freshmen) who decided via "spontaneous educational combustion" to hold their own Hunger Games, based out of love of the dystopian texts. Three students became rule makers in the Capitol-esque structure, and points were decided upon for the initial "interviews of tributes" from the various "districts" who were simply assigned a color and partner: the "tributes" had to come up with an industry. Rules are given on Facebook for each event. By considering the original :rules" and format presented in the text, they found an online and physical space to reflect learning: In essence, an ARG.
posted message: To all participants:
I've received questions from people confused as to what to do/where to start in P2PU Here's a quick "How to" on participating in the MOOC!
-- Once approved as a participant, you can jump right in without having to "make up" any work.
-- First, expand your TASK LIST at the top of the page. We are in Week One, so browse though Week 1 tasks.
-- For Week 1, there are currently 2 DISCUSSION ASSIGNMENTS (Tasks: "Lessons Learned" and "Location Sharing" and 2 VW/SIM TOURS coming up for Wednesday and Thursday (Task: "Prepared Group Tours"). Please participate in the discussion tasks then go on Wednesday's tour to JokadiaGrid and Thursday's to the ROMA SL sim!
-- Any questions? Message me! I'm here to support YOU!
posted message: Hello everyone! I'm guessing everybody's recuperating from this weekend's events. :)
Once you have your coffee and get settled in, let's start talking about exploration.
Why don't we start off talking about which places we've explored most, which ones we'd like to, and maybe delve into the question of "why bother touring/exploring?"
(Once I know exactly how this task feature works, I'll be posting more stuff via tasks.)
