Bio:
30 year mainframe programmer analyst with strong mainframe technical skills. Looking to retool my skills to include web development to be more marketable and competitive. Have about 10 years experience using FrontPage 2000 to develop web sites with as a volunteer. Am looking forward to using more modern tools that provide greater flexibility and that allow for more creativity. Enjoy learning new skills and interacting with others so these classes should be a fun ride.
Location: Kentucky
Standard Set Answer:
I have some limited training and experience working with JavaScript before and enjoyed the increased flexibility it provided over using just HTML. However, my skills aren't at the point where they're marketable. This course looks like a good one to start with to develop those skills to the point where I'm proficient in JavaScript and have marketable skills.
I will eventually like to participate in helping with the group but with 4 children still at home, a full time job and teaching CPR classes on the side, I need to be realistic up front about my availability to take on more. For now, I see myself involved in P2PU in two ways. First, taking classes and improving my skills. Second, critiquing the work of others to help them earn badges. Once I develop more of an expertise in the topics I'll be learning, I would like to set aside some time to help teach those skills to others.
